VALE – DAVID GOODGER

On behalf of Odd Rods Street Rod Club Illawarra, I would like to thank fellow rodders for attending the funeral of our late member, Dave Goodger. Due to Covid-19, we were unable to go inside for the service, so we parked outside until the service ended. Dave would have been very proud and thrilled to see the 20-plus hot rods follow the hearse to the crematorium.

Dave was often seen driving around Windang and the Illawarra in his 1934 Ford pickup. Dave’s passion was painting murals on hot rods or any old bits of tin laying around. Dave painted the murals on the ‘The Buccaneer’ 1926 Dodge pickup and ‘The Road Runner’ 1934 Plymouth coupe, a 1939 Mercury hearse and others. He had a great eye for colour.

Dave’s other hobbies were fishing and fibreglassing Marlins. He was the only Marlin fiberglasser in NSW as far as I know.

Dave was also a foundation member of the Tornadoes, the best band in Illawarra, if not NSW! He was lead guitarist and singer for well over 60 years.

Dave leaves behind his wife, Mary, his son Mark, daughter Lisa and three grandchildren.

His passing has left a huge void in the rodding fraternity and in the community in which he lived. Thanks for all the great memories mate, see you in another place!
