ULVERSTONE 2022 – PLAN AHEAD!

While Central Coast Nats organisers are keeping one eye on the calendar and the other on the Covid situation, there’s little more they can do but move forward with planning. Fortunately, everything is running smoothly, and everyone is looking forward to the event.

If you need reminding, the official dates are April 7-10, 2022, which is the weekend before Easter. The basic itinerary stands as follows, of course all activities are subject to change.

Wednesday 6th

Early arrivals are invited to register at the Ulverstone Showgrounds from 4pm through 6.30pm, and stay around for a BBQ and bench session.

Thursday, April 7

Registration opens from 7am to 10am at the showgrounds, where there is also a free breakfast for entrants. Local runs in the region are planned for the afternoon.

Friday, April 8

At 10am, entrants are invited to cruise from Ulverstone to Sheffield (Town of murals), then through Mole Creek to Deloraine where there will be a street show. Entrants may return to Ulverstone at their leisure. In the evening from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, the main street of Ulverstone will be closed for entrants-only cruising.

Saturday, April 9

From 8.30am onwards, entrants are invited to cruise from Ulverstone to Symmons Plains Raceway for driving events, including Go-to-Whoa, track cruising and show and shine. Return to Ulverstone at your leisure.

Sunday, April 10

Show and shine public day at Ulverstone Showgrounds from 10am. Bus tours to Cradle Mountain are available for entrants. Evening presentation dinner.

AND THE WEATHER IS…

Expect the Central Coast Nats in Tassie to be a cool event, in more ways than one! Ulverstone’s proximity makes it one of the chilliest places on the continent, but just what should you expect in April? Statistics from the Bureau of Meteorology for Devonport, a mere 30km east of Ulverstone, state that the warmest day in April 2021 was 21.5° (April 4) with an overnight minimum of 11.7°. Looking at the overall stats, there were only five days in April, all in the first week, that experienced max temps above 20°, and double digit minimums were equally as rare. While relative humidity averaged between 65 and 80%, a chilly sea breeze can cool things down even more. Be prepared.
