Planning for the Central Coast Regional Nationals at Ulverstone in Tasmania has been progressing well, in fact all the groundwork has been taken care of and it’s now down to the fine details, so things are well in hand.

The most important news for entrants, current and future, is Tasmania’s new requirements for visitors in regard to Covid vaccinations. From 15 December 2021, travellers aged 12 years and older, including returning residents, will need to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (unless exempt) to enter Tasmania without the need to quarantine. There are additional requirements if you’ve been in a high-risk area in the two weeks preceding your visit. It’s not expected that the requirements will change before the Ulverstone weekend, so it’s up to all entrants to ensure that they’re able to enter Tassie for the event. Cruise into www.coronavirus.tas.gov.au for all of the info.

The itinerary is locked in and includes plenty of opportunities to explore the region. On Friday, the cruise to Deloraine for the street show will take you through the village of Sheffield, otherwise known as the Town of Murals. In the centre of town, Mural Park is home to the annual Mural Fest painting competition where each year, artists compete for over six days to be crowned with the prize of the town’s best mural. Now with over 140 murals, this rural town is its own outdoor gallery, well worth an afternoon walk. Sheffield’s Mural House is also full of indoor murals inspired by Aboriginal art.

The big day out at Symmons Plains is expected to be a blast. All entrants will be invited to cruise the circuit in an orderly fashion, while those who need to blow off steam are welcome to have a go in the driving events. Expect a basic scrutineering check beforehand and pack a helmet. This will be the only day that non-entrants and Tassie’s local car clubs can participate in the weekend, with reserved parking for cool cars. All other days and activities are open to entrants only.

It might not seem far away, but entries close on January 31, 2022 for those that want to get the full entrants package. Use the form in this edition, or you can download and print a copy from www.asrf.org.au/ulverstone2022. Better still, use the online registration form, If you’re not a member already, you can join the ASRF at the same time.

See you at the Nats!
