Roadside assistance is highly recommended for rodders on the move, but sometimes a tow isn’t required if you can just lay your hands on the right part or tool. It’s been proposed that the ASRF develop a listing of members and volunteers who may wish to make themselves available for contact is where a fellow member may be stranded.

“Generally Roadside Assistance only provides 100 Km towing and that leaves many far short of getting their car home. Local rodders may be able to help with storage options, ideas or even a repair. This would be a great help to those finding themselves in a bind,” explained ASRF ACT Divisional Director, Al Cooper. “The listing would include name and contact number and/or email, and a post code or region. Location could be a shire or town name, or even a suburb if the volunteer is comfortable with that.”
