On Saturday 13th November, the Divisional Council committee held their monthly meeting in Cairns as part of their strategy of keeping in touch with regional hot rodders. The Top of the State Rod and Custom Club hosted the meeting.

The day started with a car show at the Cairns Autobarn with a good showing of a variety of cars present.

Later in the day a formal meeting was held at the TOTS clubrooms where an historic school room in the Aloomba area is used on the outskirts of Cairns. The clubrooms have a unique presence due to the timber construction and tall ceilings.

Colin Chapman (State Director), Don Bentley (Secretary) and Kaylene McQuire (Treasurer) were present representing the DC. Colin held the meeting as an opportunity for the transfer of information which is normally only available through written meeting minutes.

The QSRTAC was also in attendance with Peter Melenewycz (Chief Inspector) and Tim Bartrop (National TAC Coordinator) there together with local inspectors. A lively Q & A session was held with Peter and Tim doing presentations followed by questions from the members.

Some Legends awards for local members were also done to recognise the contribution of local individuals.

After the meeting a barbeque was held and a good social atmosphere resulted as the local members and the Brisbane visitors mixed more casually. The DC has advised that the next regional meeting will be held in Townsville next year.
