Bill Jansen (William) (aka, Wilbur, Billy Burnout) started rodding in Canberra in 1964 and was a foundation member of the Meteors Street Rod Association in 1965. His 1934 Chevrolet coupe was the first rod registered here.
He partnered with me in forming the ACT TAC in 1975 and was an enthusiastic inspector until he moved to the South Coast in the nineties. He kept an amazing photographic history of rodding in the ACT that is still shown at gatherings whenever possible. He has built so many rods that I have lost count and is building his most recent now, a 1946 Ford convertible.
Bill is the father of well known local rodder Mathew Jansen and they still collaborate on projects today.
Congratulations Bill, for your huge contribution and influence on ACT street rodding throughout your enthusiastic rodding career.
