BAD BILLYS AT THE NATS

Heading to the ASRF Nationals in Maryborough this Easter? Well start warming up for the billy kart derby!

“The karts will be an old fashioned style billy kart, rope steering with an additional pushing bar for the oldies who can no longer bend over. That covers just about all of us,” laughs Ross from the Nats committee.

“The driver will be blind folded and require instructions from the pusher or pushers to steer the kart through a set coarse of cones. He or she will then be required to back the kart into a garage area without hitting anything and return to the finish line. The coarse will not be very long, only 20-25mt. There will two karts going head to head and the winner will advance to the next round. There will be heats and a final to determine the overall winner.”

You’ll need at least a pair of covered shoes to be in it, and the support crew will provide a push bike-style helmet. It should be a good deal of fun with minimum risk of death.

Nats entry with full benefits closes on February 1, while the final date for entries is March 29. The 24th Australian Street Rod Federation Nationals will run from April 19-22, 2019 at Maryborough Showgrounds in Queensland. Entry forms and info can be found at 2019asrfnationals.com
