It was with great pleasure that ASRF Legends awards were received by six members of Top of the State Rod and Custom Car Club, Cairns, at their club rooms on 13 November 2021.

Colin Chapman, Qld State Director made the presentations to Bob and Marrissa Jamieson, Damien and Liberty Eggins and Geoff and Lyn Pellett, all of whom are Life Members of our club.

Geoff and Lyn are founder members of Top of the State, which began in 1991, Bob and Marissa joined in 1992, and Damien and Liberty joined in 1998.

In the early days, our wives also became full members to meet the minimum numbers required for incorporation.

Geoff became the first TAC representative in 1991, and then assistant when Bob became the Authorising Officer. Geoff ceased being involved with the TAC when changes were made within the TAC in 2012. He was President for six years, newsletter editor for many more, and now the Dating Officer for the club. He has assisted fellow members on many occasions with advice in the construction of their hot rods.

Lyn has also been heavily involved with the club from its inception and has been Secretary/ Treasurer/ Caterer for most of the Club’s existence. She is currently the Club Secretary.

As mentioned, Bob is the TAC representative and has a practical knowledge and skill in all things mechanical, especially if they are old! He also was President for a couple of years with the help of Marissa and between them, also produced the newsletter, while Marissa ensured we were well catered for.

Damien and Liberty are from Townsville and are founding members of Townsville Rodders. They have made substantial contributions to Top of the State’s finances over the years, with various events they have staged in Cairns.
