25TH AUSTRALIAN STREET ROD FEDERATION NATIONALS

ANNOUNCEMENT – AUGUST 7, 2021

It is with much regret that the ASRF announce that the 25th Australian Street Rod Federation Nationals scheduled for Easter 2021 at Albury, NSW, has been postponed.

The restrictions in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, in particular the lockdown in Victoria and the current and potential border restrictions, continue to hinder the planning of the event, with many sponsors and service providers unable or unwilling to make commitments into 2021.
The organising committee believes that the likelihood of COVID related restrictions on venue population still being in place in April 2021 is high, which would seriously inhibit their ability to deliver an enjoyable event for entrants and the city of Albury.

Following an Albury Nationals committee meeting on the 6/8/2021 and further consultation by phone with State Directors, the majority accepted that postponing the event was in the best interests of all involved and voted to postpone the 2021 ASRF Nationals.

The new date will be Easter 2023. Refunds will be issued to current entrants.

Our sincere thanks to the Albury City Council, the Albury Racing Club, Barlens Hire, the sponsors, supporters and team members for their efforts and understanding under difficult circumstances.

A Note from the Nats Committee Chairman

The goal of the committee has always been to make the 25th Anniversary Nationals a standout event and unfortunately it has come to the stage that there are no other options for us moving ahead for 2021.

We understand the event is a while away but with an event of this magnitude the planning literally takes years, there are decisions due to be made now that would have the potential to lose considerable amounts of money for us and our sponsors should the event then ultimately cancel or even be scaled back due to COVID and the associated restrictions, let alone the fact that the event just wouldn’t be ‘The Nationals’ with compromises having to be made in areas that would ‘water down’ the event.

The Committee have worked long and hard over the past months and be assured all avenues to move ahead in some way have been exhausted. It is certainly not a decision that has been taken lightly and we are all extremely disappointed.  I would like to personally Thank all members of the Organising Committee for all of their hard work to date and also Thank them for continuing this journey to work towards a stellar event for 2023.

Moving forward we have the full support of Albury City Council and many of our current sponsors will be back on board and we look forward to being able to bring you the 25th Anniversary Nationals in Albury 2023.

Regards
Graham Bevan
